2022 WAY UP NORTH AWARDS WINNERS
To start, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Imagen for their unwavering support of the 2022 Way Up North Awards. Your incredible contribution was invaluable in bringing this contest to life, and we thank you for your hard work and dedication.
The Way Up North Awards first began in 2017 and has since grown in size with each passing year. For the 2022 edition, we welcomed entries from participants around the world, marking the first time the competition was open to contestants outside of Europe. This led to a surge in competitiveness, resulting in the highest number of entries yet.
This year’s WUN Awards featured a diverse range of contests, marking the first time such variety was offered. This decision was made in order to ensure a level playing field, as it didn’t seem fair to pit epic landscape photos against intimate candid moments, for example.
All the photos and films submitted for the contests had to be from real weddings that took place in 2022, with the exception of the Roadie contest, which recognised photos taken at Roadie Workshops held in the same year.
We were honoured to have 5 judges for this year’s contests, all of whom are Imagen ambassadors. We extend our thanks to Anna Gadalean, 37 Frames, Fer Juaristi, The Framers, and Liam + Bee for their time and dedication in judging the entries.
To ensure fairness, the judges were given completely random photos with file names changed, to prevent any biases. The judges then ranked the images, which were later averaged out, and the top ten images in each contest with the highest average score were declared winners.
We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to the winners below, and once again, express our gratitude to Imagen for their support of the 2022 Way Up North Awards.
Finally, for those planning to attend WUN in the fall, we encourage you to secure your tickets before the price increase or a sell-out. And if you’re looking ahead to the 2023 edition of the WUN Awards, stay tuned for information which will be released later this year.
